First off, we love when bands have a name that doesn't fit their sound at all. When we hear that a band’s named Super Hairy, we would originally think it’s bluegrass or southern rock. But no, actually it’s a jamtronica band...a very good jamtronica band at that. If you’re not familiar with this genre, jamtronica, also known as livetronica, is newer emerging genre that sounds like it travelled from the future to your eardrums. This genre puts a band’s talent to the test because they have to be able to adapt to the emerging technology that’s used for electronic music, yet be extremely talented with the instruments that puts any successful jam band on the map. Super Hairy has passed with flying colors. Flying colors because that’s what you’ll see before your eyes when you listen to their trippy electronic tweaks layered over their catchy grooves. Their music is like taking an LSD trip through the universe, but you’re still sober. Not only that, they're a duo, yet it sounds like ten guys. The Disco Biscuits, Lotus, and STS9 may be the well known jamtronica bands at the moment, but Super Hairy will be at their level soon if they keep these beautiful mind licking tracks coming.

Super Hairy band members Jonny Swift and Zack Tomlinson are just as hairy as the Electronic Rock music they make.
Jonny and Zack have been successfully creating music together since 2005 when they founded and performed in Empire, a Rock band with melodic bass lines, heavy drums, and wailing guitar solos. While always staying true to their Rock and Roll roots, both members realized that music was moving forward into an Electronic era. Using this knowledge, their mastery of music, and their overall amount of body hair, Zack and Jonny evolved into Super Hairy. Super Hairy bridges the gap between Rock and Roll and the future of music: Electronic. They call this genre "the New Rock and Roll." Drawing on influences from artists such as Pretty Lights, Ratatat, and The Glitch Mob, Super Hairy blends electronic synths, sick beats, and samples with overdrive guitar and heavy bass lines, creating a euphonic sound that will shake the house and melt your face off!

Psybient-Trip: This mix is dedicated to the absolute trippiest of trippy genres of music known as Psybient. This electronic genre has been tweaked and manipulated so much that the beautiful yet bizarre noises literally paint a moving picture in front of you that’s so complex that... well no one’s mind can quite wrap around how complex it is.

Whenever we hear dancepop that has somewhat of an 80s vibe, our first thought is usually, “that’s pretty corny...but, it’s pretty catchy.” After a few more listens, it goes from, “that’s pretty catchy” to “that’s pretty damn good.” Electronic music about dancing, partying, and sexual attraction just grows on you in that way. This was the case for this spotlight. Mike & Cody have composed some catchy tunes in this fun and energetic genre. I swear as we’re writing this review, their title track “Let’s Go!” from their first EP is lodged in our heads as a catchy dance track should. Just a funny sidenote, it’s quite ironic that the EP’s called “Let’s Go!,” yet the album art's them chilling on top of a roof watching the sunset (and a random Citgo sign). Anyway, their tracks are groovy and filled with synths with a hint of guitar weaving in and out of their house style beats. Their lighthearted auto-tuned lyrics would have Daft Punk fans givin' them a thumbs up. In their bio, they mentioned that they played jazz growing up, and you can hear that influence in a few of their tracks like “Everything You Do.” In a nutshell, if you’ve jumped on the Chromeo or Cut Copy fan train, then you need to get a ticket for Mike & Cody’s. We’ve got ourselves a seat.

Mike and Cody are old pals. We used to play jazz together in D.C., then we started making pop in Boston late last year.

We like lots of music - we really like nice grooves, nice chord changes, and yup melodies. We like making songs that make people move their booties.

We put out a few random tunes last year, got a nice response, then spent this past summer working our booties off on writing, recording, and mixing this E.P. We're really proud of it, so we hope you like it and pass on to people you think might like it!

Comanche is the name of an electronic DJ/Producer from Minnesota. The original tracks that sucked us in are part of the fast growing chill wave craze. The track, Alexandria, sounds like a dance party in the middle of the Sahara Desert that’s now been completely submerged underwater. Then Comanche’s got another handful of tracks that fall more in a laid-back house genre. The jazzy upbeat compositions aren't quite energizing enough for a rave, but they aren't quite chill enough for the lounge either. We’re starting a new exciting trend here folks...raving in the lounge!

Electronic fans, Joshua K. Hall needs to be part of your collection. Expertly composed synth-filled beats are layered with some unique auto-tuned lyrics. I know what you’re thinking, enough with the auto-tune already. Trust me, this guy knows what he’s doing. Most of the songs have a dark tone to them, yet you still have the urge to dance. “Keep You For Myself” is my personal favorite track.

Currently, Joshua has deleted all accounts and has only left the words "Silence."

If you were sucked into a Super Nintendo for a crazy party, I guarantee that Deltatron would be the DJ. This guy his making some serious beats out of Peru. The BPMs are slow, but his beats are sporadic which is a great combination. I recommend listening to his song “Monsta” first. It should hook you like it did me.
